and off to London again

Aaron's turn for a day trip today. not as sunny and no stroll along the Southbank, more of a lunch, nap and sit around the x-ray dept kind of day! We were a bit concerned about what to expect at this appointment as his blood tests had shown raised inflammatory markers (ESR 56 not the usual 5) that combined with a few symptoms. Anyway for now she is happy just to keep an eye on this level at his next blood test and also wait for his stool sample to come back to compare it with. Diet wise no change, still MEWS free (milk egg wheat soya). He can finally come off his omeprazole which he has been on since august, so 1 less medicine :)
She phoned ahead and ordered an x-ray of his knee which is causing him a lot of discomfort, nothing obvious but as she said she is not a bone expert so will get back to me when there is a report, she has also put in a referral to rheumatology (another department to tick off).
In the big news she has taken on Josh too, so will hopefully see them both together in 3 months!!!

Last week Aaron also had an audiology appointment which came just at the right time as we were finding he was saying ''what'' to us more and more. Result was he has a lot of glue in both ears and his hearing was quite reduced, he has referred him to the the ENT surgeon to discuss having grommets if no improvement by the summer. Having had Ethan struggle with this til the age of now 9, 4 lots of grommets and now a hearing aid, i am reluctant both to go down that path again and not to! We will definately look into the relation to inflammation in the body, which he certainly suffers from, before deciding on anything.

Also last week Josh saw his lovely paediatrician who has referred him to look at his hypermobile fingers, we have always known about them, but now he's older its becoming more of a problem at school etc. Apparently its called swan necking.

Both boys had parents evening and got glowing reports, especially Ethan who is still way ahead with his maths and has made 5 levels of progress with his writing which is outstanding :)

Unfortunately despite some (mostly) really good weeks of Josh's new medicine (sulfasalazine) he had a bad day Sunday at Polesden Lacey for a walk, when he had stomach ache then diarrhea (boys were excited to get to use the servants loo thanks to the special toilet card we have!), then an even worse day Tuesday where on a walk with the Beaver scouts he had an accident covering himself... and Tom... at twilight... in the woods :(
