Family Hostler: new diet

so trialled adding soya back into his diet, just 1 piece of bread that contains the flour but concluded that he did seem to have more symptoms, so at his appointment at Great Ormond Street it was decided to remove it again and also to re-try wheat/gluten free again, as this had only been done when he was 3 and it was confused by his bowel obstruction episodes at the time. The main challenges are snacks like cake and biscuit and bread based meals, particularly as he is older and fussier than before!

That weekend after the appointment was Olympia's allergy show, so Josh and i had a nice day out sampling new foods, and discovering he can still have a dairy free pizza (minus cheese) at Pizza Express now that they have introduced a gluten free base :)

They also have prescribed him a blue dye to take orally to measure his transit time..... this coats his tongue and teeth and stains anything else it touches, comes in glass vials that have to be carefully snapped and strained through the tea stariner! and after all that the 1st dose (despite careful watching!) never reappeared. we are now watching and waiting again after a re-trial.

Prior to this London appointment he was seen more locally at St Helier who felt she would like him to have an MRI to look for loops of 'redundant bowel', but talk to London 1st. GOS would rather not due to his age and the risks of needing an anaesthetic in a 'tunnel', and felt their barium swallow study had covered it anyway!

Aaron's bleeding in his stools settled after a month, but has now returned for the past 2 weeks. His ultra sound appeared normal but is not the righ method for looking for inflammatory disorders and other possible diagnosis'. His surgical appointment finally came through last week but as we already knew it was not the right referal in their opinion, so we were stuck waiting for his gastro referal to Josh's Dr, in a month from now. However!!! today i got a call (after many phone calls) to say he could have a cancelleation appoinment this afternoon, so i better go!
