SIBO plan

on friday we had our gastro appointment at St Helier with a lovely lady who really seems to listen and understand Josh's problems and has an idea of what the trouble is (hopefully she's right!)
last time we saw her she said she thought it sounded like he was suffering from a small intestine bacterial overgrowth, caused by possibly his previous surgery or the malformations of his bowel. This would cause the pain, bloating diarrhea etc he has. after that appointment eventually he was able to complete a test for this and it came back VERY positive! The plan is to start 'cycling antibiotcs', this is where he is to be on metrinidrozol for 10days, then a 10 day break, then another 10 days etc for 3 cycles, on the 2nd cycle he will also start long term probiotics. She has made a telephone appointment to see how its going, a follow up breath test and follow up clinic appointment in 3 months - very attentive! he also had an xray to see his bowel as he hadn't had any imaging for a while and will have a liver function blood test when in for the breath test. The hope is the AB's will clear the overgrowth and the probiotics will then keep it at bay, if not it may have to be repeated.

Aaron has a thorough does of chicken pox and Josh will probably too by the week after this, so we're keeping busy as usual in the Hostler house!
