london trip

Josh and i went to London for 2 days for appointments on consecutive days, and stayed with Tom's Aunty Chrissy. First of all though we managed to fit in a trip to The London Transport Museum, Josh won a ticket at a GOS event a while back and i hadn't realised it was only 1 tube stop away. It was nice to make the trip not all about hospitals and Josh loves vehicles, trains especially and so had a great time.
Then onto our much delayed as ever Gastro appointment (5pm not 3) but at least we got to see the consultant not one of the many ever changing registrars. It was our most confusing appointment as she felt that rather than continuing treating the SIBO with another antibiotic we should first work out what is causing it, the trouble with this is tat i feel she is right but it will take so long to get to that point up there at the speed things happen, and locally things work quite quickly comparatively so i don't want to upset them by not following their plan! for now she has taken another urine sample to look for organic acids as a marker of the SIBO, and would like a stool sample to see if there is still the very high sugars in it suggesting malabsorbtion, then possibly an endoscopy. she looked at alot of previous results (bloods too) and was going to see if she could pull it all together at their team meeting after the clinc session.
We then got the tube back to Chris' and it was so nice not to have to get all the way home and to have a home cooked meal, Josh was very excited to stay over!
The next day we were back nice and early for the urology study, which basically involved Josh drinking lots of drinks and weeing a lot! each time he went he had to go in a special toilet that measured his flow and volume, unfortunately they didn't need to empty it between patients so it was rather disgusting! Josh  drank well  and seemed constantly to need to go, the nurse thought he might need more medicine to allow his bladder to stretch and increase its capacity. over the 2 days we had a lot of toilet crisis' involving going on the train, at the tube station, by the lifts at waterloo and asking at shops (we have absorbant bags!)
Lastly we saw the dietician who kindly met us at urology, she was very nice but didn't have too much to add, except letting us know that holland and barrett by the hospital sold cheese and yogurt Josh could eat so we shopped after and got some at the exorbatant price they were! she is also going to chase up some results and queries for us. Also interestingly apparantly she has quite a few patients who see both gastro and urology as there is a connection.

We are back in 10 days to see the urologist and discuss the results.
