so we met with the consultant at St Helier yesterday and again were impressed that she had a plan of action and an appropriate time scale. The bacetrial overgrowth is still significant despite the 3 cycles of antibiotics, infact off their chart for measuring
and the xray they did showed a chronically distended stomach and swollen loops of bowel. Her plan is to do one more breath test to doulble check for fructose malabsorbtion and take some bloods, then proceed with 2 cycles of ciprofloxicin (the strong antibiotic he used back when he had the salmonella) then repeat the SIBO breath test to see the effect they have had before meeting again at the beginning of November. In the menatime she felt it appropriate for him to have an MRI and some other imaging (which she will discuss with the radiologist to find the most appropriate) to look at his bowel transit time. She will also highlight the need for an endoscopy which GOS are apparantly arranging.
boys enjoying the olypmic medals!
He's still getting a lot of diarrhea and taking naps when he can (harder in busy holiday time), so its good to have a plan of action as he starts school.
